My Sweet Baby

Dear Mia,
You are so amazing. I love everything about you.
You are unbelievably talented.  I wish I could write these words
the way you do.  You take my feelings and you express them for me.
I aspire to be like you. Thank you for that.
I love you.
Love, Shelby

I was spent, I was lonesome smelling the flowers
Couples walk two by two's holding hands
Through lovers lane I walk alone
 Try to understand why my

My sweet, my sweet baby
My sweet darlin, my sweet baby has left me, has left me

Trace the way in my steps, but the wind has lost them
Didn't I try my best
Can't you see I was willing
Follow this moon for one more night, one more night
But the stars they don't shine
I refuse to see the light

Cause my sweet, my sweet baby
My sweet darlin, my sweet baby has left me, has left me

Through lovers lane I walk alone
Try to understand

Deep Breaths.

Sometimes moving on is the best thing for everybody.  Realizing that you aren't over something and admitting it isn't worth harboring the hate anymore.  Hate turns you into a monster you never thought you could be.  Hate is anger as is anger is poison.  It eats up all the good in your life, all the good in yourself.  Hate can turn you into a person beyond recognition.  Hate is not worth letting yourself go to hold on to something that happened.

"Look, sometimes bad things happen and there is nothing you can do about it, so why worry."
 -Lion King.

It may hurt, and it doesn't make you love them any less, but sometimes it's best for everybody to move on. You can't hold things in your heart that are too heavy for your shoulders.  Learn to breathe and smile again.  Find your own beauty, there is so much in this world to be thankful for.  You do what ya gotta do, so it looks like you better start doing it.

Titanic.

What a good end to a crappy Sunday! I have not been feeling well all weekend and today I really got the brunt end of it.  I started off my morning hacking up a storm then busting to a movie with the family where I was miserable the whole time! As soon as I got home I made myself some chicken soup and cuddled up on the couch and got my study on.  I've had 4 tests this week and I am preparing for one tomorrow.  Talk about stressed right?! Daulton and I went to go get a coke in the afternoon to break up our study times then returned home knee deep back into my Chemistry book.

On Friday we had a major Girls Night Out and a bunch of us went to go see The Vow. Eh, it was mediocre.  But that's not the point.  Annyyyywwaaays, during the previews of the movie we saw that Titanic is coming out on 3D. I was reminded of how much I love that movie and I am totally ecstatic to watch in 3D.  Let's be real, who doesn't want to see young Leo on the big screen again, let alone THREE DIMENSIONAL! Ow ow I can't wait! :)

Back to my Sunday.  I've mentioned a couple times that I've really wanted to watch Titanic for the billionth time and today was definitely a Titanic sort of day.  My mama went to the store, bought some drumsticks and we all agreed upon 8 o'clock to start the movie.  9 o'clock rolled around and we finally pressed play.  haha.

I love that movie.  It's definitely in my top 5.  Everything about that movie is heart wrenching to me.  I remember seeing it in theaters in 1997.  My mom took my siblings and I to a matinee.  I was so intrigued with the film.  I remember being scared when the boat is sinking and it finally breaks in half because of the weight and pressure of the water flooding the upper half.  I remember my mom covering my eyes when Kate Winslet does the naked drawing scene.  And I remember feeling sad because it really happened.

Each time I watch that movie I feel the same way.  I get all twitterpated because of the undying love that Jack&Rose discover with their short time on the ship.  I get all awkward when she gets naked.  I get sick when the boat snaps in half.  And I always feel sad that it's a true story.

It's a fabulous movie.  Well done James Cameron.  I wish that Leonardo Dicaprio and Kate Winslet would have won Best Actor and Actress for the film in the Oscar's that year.  I think that the song definitely earned its reward.  I constantly listen to it on my iPod, I sure do love Celine Dion!

Anyways.  I loved the movie AGAIN.  It will forever be a favorite.  I enjoyed my Sunday.  Thanks to all who shared it with me.

A Quick Note

You guys. I found this story on my friends blog and I had to repost.  I read this at 7 o'clock in the morning and I legitimately got teary eyed and hard core chills.  I've been thinking of it all day long.  I hope you enjoy it as much as I truly do.

The following event took place in a ward in Salt Lake City in 1974. It occurred during a sacrament meeting and was told to me by a Regional Representative of the Twelve who was in the meeting. A young man, just before leaving on his mission stood in sacrament meeting and bore in essence the following testimony:

Brothers and Sisters, as you know, the past two weeks I've been waiting for my mission call. During the time I was waiting I had a dream. I knew it was not an ordinary dream. I dreamt I was in the pre-existence and awaiting my call to come to earth. I was filled with the same anticipation and excitement that I had before I received my mission call. In my dream I was talking to a friend, and I felt a special closeness to him, even though I've never met him in this life. As we talked a messenger came and gave me a letter. I knew it was my call to go to earth. In great excitement my friend and I opened the letter. I gave it to him and asked him to read it aloud. It said: "You've been called to earth in a special time and to a special land. You will be born to the true church and you will have the priesthood of God in your home. You will be born into a land of plenty, in a land of freedom. You will go to the earth in the United States of America."

My friend and I rejoiced as we read my call, and while we were rejoicing the messenger returned. This time he had a letter for my friend. We knew it was his call to earth. My friend gave me the letter to read aloud. His letter said: "You've been called to go to the earth in circumstances of poverty and strife. You will not be raised in the true church. Many hardships will attend your life. Your land will be fraught with  political and social difficulties - which will hinder the work of the Lord. You will be born in Costa Rica."

We wept, my friend and I, as we read his call. And my friend looked at me with tears in his eyes, and said, "When we are down on earth, you in your choice land and me in Costa Rica, my friend, please come and find me."

This young missionary, with tears in his eyes, said, "Brothers and Sisters, I have received my mission call. I am going to Costa Rica."

There is a sequel to the story. About a year after the sacrament meeting, the bishop received a letter from the missionary in Costa Rica. The letter had one sheet of paper in it and on that sheet written in capital letters were four words:

I FOUND MY FRIEND

hashtag.

Hashtags. The new phenomenon.  They are EVERYWHERE.  Facebook, twitter, and commercials.  But the funniest thing about hashtags is my conversations with Daulton.  I've recently got a twitter(follow me!) and I looooovvvee it.  I got rid of my Facebook a while ago and twitter is my new connection to the social networking world.  Twitter started the hashtag and I have thoroughly enjoyed precisely placing this hashtag in all of my conversations.

I have made it my mission to convert Daulton to twitter.  She has not budged yet, but believe me, she will.  Daulton got a Facebook because I got a Facebook.  She started a blog(daultonk.blogspot.com) because I started a blog. She'll get a twitter because I have a twitter #itjusttakestime.

I think our families are ready to kill us.  In fact, I think Daulton herself is ready to kill us.  I don't think I can send a text to her without placing a hashtag in it.  It's one of those silly wars, but I sure do love it.  So Daulton:

#it'son
#youknowyouwantto
#peerpressure
#bethankfuli'msocool
#iloveyou
#justdoit

:)

irked.

Okayy wow.  I've recently just come across something and it really irked me.  I just want to say to everyone, don't listen to all of the things people tell you.  I read something that was meant to question yourself to see if you are satisfied with the way things are today, and inspire you to change.  And it did not come out that way.  Newsflash. If you are wanting to spread a message do it the RIGHT way.  You are not perfect nor are you higher than any girl our age. You must inspire people not chastise.  So please, the next time you point your finger at me, make sure your own hands are clean. (the lovely words of Bob Marley)

Thank you. Ew.

My Favorite Love Story.

I like to think that I'm not a sappy girl.  But I love me some chick flicks.  Sometimes the predictability is 'barf-able', but I do enjoy the cute little twitterpations I feel in my tummy. I have my favorites, as most girls do. The Notebook, P.S. I love you, A Lot Like Love, A Walk to Remember, Never Been Kissed, Sweet Home Alabama, Trystan and Isolde.. (Anybody smile&nod at these? ha ha) But my all time favorite is that of my parents, Mark and Linnette Deason.

Their paths crossed in 1970. My mom was 15 and my dad 16.  My mama lived in Orangeville, Ut and the Deason's were coming from Oregon and moving into a house right down the road.  When my mom first caught wind of my dad she was sitting with her best friend (my aunt) Dawn, on her porch.  My dad and my Uncle Mike were driving past and my mom turned to Dawn saying "them are the UGLIEST boys I've ever seen" and they sat and giggled.  Little did they both know those UGLY boys were their husbands and the love of their lives.

Here's where the cute part begins.  My dad first saw my mom in their high school hallway and he turned to his buddy and said "That's the girl I'm going to marry".  And THAT was where their love story began.

My dad played football and baseball.  He was the rebel child but also the town goon.  (You should hear some of the stories) My mom was the all american sweetheart, perfect grades and GPA, on the drill team, and the top of her class.  They lived two complete different lives, but they fell in love.

My mothers family is strong in the LDS religion.  My dad had never heard of a mormon.  My Grandparent's had a really hard time swallowing the idea of my dad.  The rules were: My mom could talk on the phone to my dad (and anyone else for that matter) for a total of 5 minutes.  My Grandpa would set a timer and the moment it went off he would hang up the telephone.  My mom wouldn't even get the chance to say 'goodbye'.  Also, my mom could see my dad once a week.  If she walked down the road to go to Dawn's house, and she stopped to talk or say hello to Mark, my grandparents called that their 'date'.  Another, I'm pretty sure my mom had like a 10 o'clock or 11 o'clock curfew.

My Grandparents were strict. Rules were rules and when you were wrong, you had punishments.  Because of how strict they were, my mom was an angel.  Up until the age of 15, my mom never questioned my grandparents. But my daddy brought a whole new her :)

In time, my mom and dad were sneaking out, breaking rules, and falling in love.  They went to high school dances together and high school activities (bonfires, assemblies, games, etc) My grandparents did their best to diminish it.  What they didn't see, is that my dad was a hero.  He stood for good, he always rooted for the underdog, and he was the best thing that ever come into my moms life.

At the age of 16, they ran away.  My dad's parents had been divorced and both remarried.  My grandma Durret lived in Ojai, California.  And that's where they were headed.  They didn't get far.  At a bus station police were waiting and took my mom back to Orangeville.  She was COURT ORDERED to obey her parents. (hilarious right?!)

1983. My dad graduated a year before my mom and he set off to the Navy.  He came home on a leave and in a taco bell, he asked my mom to marry him.  They were married the June after she graduated, and my mom was free, headed off to the east coast with the man of her dreams.

They've been married ever since, well, a few slight bumps in the road.  But  this is a true love story.  And it's my absolute favorite.
